macOS 10.12.1 Beta 4 as well as Public Beta has been released for Mac users. Here’s how you can update right away.
macOS 10.12.1 Beta 4 & Public Beta Now Available for Download
Apple seeded iOS 10.1 Beta 3 along with tvOS 10.0.1 Beta 3 to developers yesterday. Today though, Apple is giving its desktop platform some love, releasing macOS 10.12.1 Beta 4 as well as Public Beta to developer and non-developers alike.
If you have macOS 10.12.1 Beta already installed on your Mac, you can update to the latest build directly from the Mac App Store. Remember, the steps for updating are absolutely the same, whether you’re a developer or a Public Beta tester. Simply follow the steps below and you’ll be golden.
- Connect to a WiFi network.
- Save all your work.
- Launch the Mac App Store.
- Click on the ‘Updates’ tab at the top.
- Let the Mac App Store refresh and click on ‘Update’ next to the available download.
Once the download is complete, you’ll be prompted whether or not you want to restart your Mac in order to complete installation. Once the installation process has kicked off, try not to interact with your Mac at all, since you want everything to go through very smoothly.
macOS 10.12.1 Beta is available to download directly from the Apple Developer Program website, which will set you back $99 on an annual basis for membership. But, if you want to try Apple’s latest desktop operating system for free, then you can do so by heading over to beta.apple.com.
macOS 10.12.1 Beta is seemingly a very minor update, with changes mostly focused on bug fixes and performance enhancements. There are almost no apparent visual changes in this update, so do not hold your breath for something exciting to show up once you install it on your Mac.
Also, if you are planning to install the OS on your Mac, then please do so on a spare computer. You are dealing with beta software here, so there’s no telling whether macOS 10.12.1 Beta will prove to be stable or not for you.
