iPhone X TrueDepth Camera Supply Has Now Stabilized and Will Not Affect the 2018 Lineup
Apple’s TrueDepth camera is an impressive piece of technology in the iPhone X but due to manufacturing issues cited by the company’s suppliers, it also affected the total units the firm was able to produce in a given time frame. Things are now looking positive for the tech giant because according to a report, the TrueDepth camera supply has now stabilized and will not be affecting the 2018 iPhone lineup.
KGI Securities Expects iPhone X Supplies and Forthcoming 2018 iPhone Family to Arrive on Time
According to a research note coming from Ming-Chi Kuo that was obtained by MacRumors, he states that Apple is not expected to repeat the same mistake when it comes to delayed production, especially when we’re talking about the 2018 iPhone lineup.
“Apple won't repeat the mistake of supply disruption & delayed production as seen with iPhone X. We believe shipments of new 2H18F iPhones will arrive on time under stable supply in late 3Q18F. And given no major spec upgrade of TrueDepth camera on these new models, we believe Apple will continue to use the same WLO for dot projector and 4P lens of infrared camera as iPhone X. We believe the supply of both components are now stable, leaving no need to switch to other solutions.”
The analyst is also under the impression that the upcoming iPhone family will feature the same wafer level optics for the TrueDepth system’s dot projector, along with the same 4P lens for the infrared camera that is used on the iPhone X.
The same analyst also remarked that Apple’s was two years ahead of Qualcomm when it comes to 3D sensing technology and that the Cupertino tech giant has a 2.5-year lead against the competition thanks to the incorporation of the TrueDepth camera.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to hold out your purchase of the iPhone X for now, especially now that we have an idea that with the 2018 lineup, we will not have to wait that long to get our hands on a unit.
