iPhone 8 Once Again Reported to Feature Iris Scanning Tech, Claims Industry Source

Apple was the first company to embed a fingerprint reader on its iPhone, but it definitely isn’t going to claim first place as far as the iris scanner goes. While it has definitely improved the fingerprint scanner with each iPhone iteration, it is time to beef up that security, and industry sources have once again claimed that the upcoming iPhone 8 will come shipped with an iris scanner.

The combination of an iris and fingerprint scanner will add more security to the ‘already robust’ iOS ecosystem and according to sources close to the matter (via DigiTimes), production of the next iPhone is going to take place much earlier than expected.

Apple Has Failed in Its Quest to Develop Its in-House 5G Modem, Qualcomm Will Remain Exclusive Supplier for iPhone 15 Series

Another plus point of owning any iPhone 8 model is that all of them have been reported to come with wireless charging, but it appears that just like its previous models, the company is going to be charging you a premium for the larger iPhone. However, it looks like Apple’s business model is not going to be the only factor responsible for driving those costs up because according to previous reports, production costs are going to be responsible for that as well.

The iPhone 8 featuring an OLED panel will drive up that price and higher manufacturing costs of the 3D Touch will contribute to that as well. Reputed analyst hailing from KGI Securities, Ming Chi Kuo states that because wireless charging is going to be producing more heat inside these mobile devices, a new graphite layer will be installed inside the phone to protect the film of the 3D Touch sensor, which will require newer engineering approaches and will surely that increase that price tag.

Rumors are also suggesting that all of these changes will contribute to a massive price increase of the iPhone 8, and you could be paying more than $1,000 to get your hands on the 10th-anniversary edition of Apple’s flagship product. Regardless, what are your impressions on seeing an iris and fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 8? Let us know right away.
