Alleged iPhone 7s(8?) Factory Images Show Very Ugly Fingerprint Sensor, Stacked Dual Cameras
This year, the rumor mill's got us extensively focused on one iPhone: the mythical iPhone 8. Almost all leaks related to Apple's 2017 September launches are for the smartphone. However, not all is clear at the moment. The earliest iPhone 8 leaks claimed that the smartphone will embed the fingerprint sensor inside its display. It was believed that Apple will pull the tech off, after Samsung failed to do so on the Galaxy S8/S8+. However, now it looks like Apple just might have also bitten off a bit more than it can chew. Take a look below to find out more.
Alleged Apple iPhone 7s Prototype Reproduces A Very Ugly Looking Fingerprint Sensor At Its Back
As mentioned above, every leak for Apple's September launches is for the iPhone 8. So either there is no iPhone 7s/Plus or there will be no significant differentiation points between the trio. A lot of sources have courageously claimed that the iPhone lineup just might feature rear fingerprint sensors. In fact, the latest alleged EVT testing images for the iPhone 8 might also hint at rear fingerprint recognition; embedded in the device's motherboard.
Now, we've got a shaky image that allegedly belongs to the 'iPhone Pro'. Its source claims that the iPhone 7s Plus will also feature a vertical rear dual camera; a feature that many believe will be limited to the more expensive iPhone 8. If this does turn out to be true, then we'll see very few differentiation points inside Apple's 2017 smartphone portfolio. However, do bear in mind that the smartphone in today's image appears to have a metal build.
That's a very ugly looking rear fingerprint sensor, but at this point, we're sure that Apple's fan base doesn't care about aesthetics. The company's slowed down considerably since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which borrowed directly from the iPod Touch. A vertical dual camera can redeem Cupertino, but Apple will ruin a perfectly good look with an ugly rear fingerprint sensor. We've also heard claims that the iPhone 8 in particular will feature fingerprint recognition inside its elongated power button.
If this bears fruit, then we'll have a good differentiation point for this year's iPhones. If not, then it'll be no different than last year, unless Apple really does manage to pull off some 3D facial recognition magic. Thoughts?
