In your haste, if you purchased an iPhone 7 or an iPhone 7 Plus, and if you’ve encountered some hissing noises emanating from either smartphone, turns out you’re not the only one. Some frequency of consumers who have gotten their hands on Apple’s latest iPhone family have reported hissing noises coming from their devices, and here are some thoughts as to why this could be happening.
iPhone 7 Could Be Making Noises as a Result of Heavy Processor Workload
Reports that have surfaced state that both the regular iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are producing hissing sounds when they’re subjected to a heavy processor workload, which in this case, would either be a benchmarking application or a game. While the phones continue to function flawlessly, this issue is slightly discomforting for users knowing that their mobile devices are not silent, especially after paying a premium price to acquire them.
While it’s not clear what the issue is, I’m going to go out on a limb and state that it could be a coil whine or similar electromagnetic effects, but then again, it’s just my hunch speaking and could pretty much be something else entirely. However, you should be informed that the problem isn’t widespread and only occurs for some users. One user from Engadget reports that he tested his iPhone 7 using 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme and no noises were made from that smartphone.
PC enthusiasts are very familiar with the benchmark, and it put enormous amount of strain on the processor, and even then, no hissing noises were emanating from the smartphone. So far, Apple has not commented on the matter, but if it’s a hardware problem or a software conundrum, it has yet to be disclosed. We’ve also added a video at the bottom to make you familiar with the issue, so let us know in the comments if you too were suffering from the same issue.
