Apart from going straight to the Google website, the official app itself is the way to go if you need to get things done in pure Google fashion. Today, things are taking a turn for the better, as Google has announced that it will be bundling the Gboard keyboard app into its main app. Things don't stop there though. The company is also bundling a brand new Trending on Google widget, allowing you to see in real-time what is trending in the world of Google Search.

Last May, we launched Gboard, a keyboard for iPhone that allows you to search Google and send information, GIFs, emoji, and more — right from your keyboard. While Gboard first launched as a standalone app, it now comes installed with the Google app. Don’t be stifled by the same old texts and smiley faces; with Gboard, expressing yourself with emoji, multiple languages and GIFs has never been easier or more fun. To access, go to your Google app settings to set up Gboard on your device.

For those unaware, Gboard was available as a separate download to those who were looking for a third-party keyboard replacement. Not only it gets the work done, but also assures that search is right at your fingertips. In order to activate Gboard if you have the latest version of the Google app instead, simply head over to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.

The Trending on Google widget, on the other hand, is a great way to see what's happening in the world of search. Just 3D Touch on the Google app's icon and you'll see the widget instantly. Or, if you so wish, you can add it to your Today screen as well, so that it's accessible whenever you need it to.

The “Trending on Google” widget keeps you in the know about hot topics and breaking news from around the world by displaying live trending Google searches. See something that catches your eye? Just tap on the trending search to open up the Google app and learn more.

To access the widget, use 3D Touch on the app icon or swipe right on your home screen. To install it, swipe right on your home screen, scroll to the bottom, tap “Edit”, then add “Trending on Google.
