Electra is Now Available for Everyone, Not Just Developers – Jailbreak iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 Today!
Everyone had their eyes fixed on Electra for a wide variety of reasons. It has been in development for a long, long time, and was primarily been aimed at developers only. But of course, it was revealed that the tool would be available to the public once it was ready for prime-time use, only it was not known exactly when. Today, CoolStar has released version 1.0 of its jailbreak tool Electra, and it is available for public consumption as well. This means that if you have an iOS device that is running iOS 11.0 all the way up to iOS 11.1.2, then you can go ahead and jailbreak.
Just like many jailbreaks we’ve seen before, this one is semi-untethered in nature. This means that you have to re-jailbreak your device every single time it restarts or loses power. Also, whenever the jailbreak certificate expires, you’ll have to re-jailbreak your device at that point as well. It sounds like an inconvenience but keep in mind the numerous benefits the tool brings to the table, such as the ability to install software and tweaks that aren’t just possible through the App Store.
Since this is the initial release of the jailbreak tool therefore it is highly recommended that you exercise caution. Though Cydia is bundled in this release, which should get everyone excited obviously, but functionality of tweaks and other stuff may be broken due to infancy of everything. Personally, I would recommend holding back from the jailbreak till developers get an upper-hand on updating their software for the jailbreak, once they have, and you have the green light, only then jump onboard the bandwagon.
