Apple has released watchOS 3.1.3 for Apple Watch Series 2, Apple Watch Series 1 and original Apple Watch.
New watchOS 3.1.3 Update Patches Lots of Bugs & Improves Performance
watchOS 3.1.1 wasn't the best update Apple had pushed out for Apple Watch users. Soon after its release, news started surfacing that the update is bricking some Apple Watch Series 2 devices, forcing the company to pull the update altogether. Since then, Apple has been rather quiet in this arena, until today, as it has released watchOS 3.1.3.
I would usually go on a limb to state that you should download the update right away for your Apple Watch. But today, I'll advise against it and wait for reports to confirm that the update is absolutely safe to download and install. Just give it a couple of hours at least and you will know for sure.
If you are feeling adventurous, then you can go ahead and install watchOS 3.1.3 right away, nonetheless. Simply place your Apple Watch on its magnetic charger and then launch the Watch app on your iPhone. Once that is done, navigate to General > Software Update. The latest update will pop right up in a few seconds. Once it does, tap on the Download and Install button to kick things into motion. Just make sure you do not touch your Apple Watch during the entire download and installation process. Since everything happens over Bluetooth therefore it will take a while. Your Apple Watch might even leave the impression that nothing is happening at all. But trust us, there is. It just takes quite a while to install.
Once the installation is complete, your Apple Watch will restart and boot back up. Just start using it as you normally would without worrying about anything at all. But like I said - it's best to hold back at least a couple of hours to make sure that the update is not botched in any way. Given the fiasco that was laid down by watchOS 3.1.1, we highly doubt it'll happen this time around. But it's always a good idea to be absolutely safe no matter what.
watchOS 3.1.3 is aimed towards squashing bugs and improving performance for Apple Watch users. Therefore, it's recommended for everyone to go ahead and install. Just make sure you follow every single installation protocol correctly before hitting that install button. Keeping your wearable on its magnetic charing during the installation is an absolute must. There's nothing more horrifying than watching your Apple Watch turn off during the installation process.
