In case you are an owner of the HTC Desire HD and for somewhat reason you are still using it as your daily driver Android device, then we do have some great news for you. The CodefireX Android 4.2 JellyBean custom ROM for the HTC Desire HD is based on the latest AOSP
source. According to the development team empowering CodefireX for the Desire HD, their ROM isn’t a simple rename of CyanogenMod. In fact CodefireX ROMs usually come loaded with specification and features of their own with easy switch options for Vanilla and custom experience.
The ROM is open source and you might see better variations of this same ROM coming from various developers.
The CodefireX Android 4.2.1 JellyBean ROM for HTC Desire HD is currently in Beta. However, most of the stuff works fine and it can be your daily driver for sure. The storage, GPS, USB mount, Camera, Camcorder, Audio, Radio, Calls, Mobile Data, Buttons all work flawlessly. Bluetooth isn’t working for now and we believe that it will be fixed in upcoming releases of this ROM.
For those who don’t know, custom ROMs are third party builds of Android operating systems and are usually based on source code. The main advantage of using ROMs against stock OEM Android OS is that these ROMs are optimized for user experience and usually carry no manufacturer bloat ware ( branded apps) on board.
In order to install this Android 4.2 Jellybean ROM on your HTC Desire HD, you will need to have permanent root on your device, unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery ( ClockworkMod Recovery). In case you don’t have these on your HTC Desire HD, then head to this XDA thread dedicated to provide you all information and tools to get root, unlock bootloader and install custom recovery.
Once you are done with getting root and recovery on your phone, you can then download Android 4.2 JellyBean CodefireX custom ROM for your HTC Desire HD from here and flash it via custom recovery. Since custom ROMs do not come with integrated Google Apps – most of the times – so you can download the compatible Google Apps from here.
