Thanks to the Heart Watch heart tracking app, Green was notified that he was unknowingly suffering from a medical condition called the pulmonary embolism. Green was wearing the Apple Watch when it lit up with a notification. Cross-checking the revealed data with some of his earlier recordings, he realized that his heart rate was higher than normal and that something could be potentially wrong.

James Green had a pulmonary embolism a few years before he bought the Apple Watch. However, the quick access to reading his heart rate definitely proved worthwhile for Green. In a statement Green noted:

“It was cool to open up the Health app and show it to my physicians and give them more data to work with. I had no idea this watch would save my life.”
