Apple Pay To Hit Canadian Shores On The 17th Of November

Apple Pay took a considerable amount of time before it made its way outside the United States, with UK being the recipient of the service in July of this year. Now, we're hearing reports that Cupertino's contactless payment system could be coming to Canadian shores on the 17th of November through an exclusive partnership with American Express.

According to iPhone in Canada, who claim to have information on the matter:

According to American Express, the service is set to launch this Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Customer service representatives we spoke with confirmed the date over the phone numerous times, and is in line with what you’ve told us as well.

This is great news for those residing in Canada as residents will be finally able to make use of Apple's newfound payment system like everyone else in the United States and UK. This move also further proves that Apple is indeed working in the background to bring Apple Pay to more countries around the globe.

It's also being reported that Apple Pay will also make its way Australia by the end of 2016, while the service will further move forward next year with its debut in Spain and Hong Kong.

Apple Pay made its big stage debut alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus back in September of 2014. The service works over NFC for contactless payments and even works in apps and games for authorizing purchases using the power of Touch ID. The service has seen quick adoption in the United States but it's worth noting that it's exclusive to Apple users only. We're quite certain that Apple will never bring Apple Pay to third-party ecosystems, but what we're certain about is the fact that the service will definitely see a bunch of improvements in the coming months and years in terms of usage and accessibility.

If you're a Canadian resident, then we recommend that you mark 17th of November on your calendar right away. And we're quite certain that Apple will also come through with an official press release on the matter when the service goes live later this week in Canada, so stay tuned for that as well.
