Apple HomePod Expected to Arrive in Early 2018 – Assumptions Pit the Release Period Between January and April
While there is not much we can do but wait, here are some features of the HomePod that you will be interested in knowing about. The new smart speaker comes with a seven-speaker array of tweeters along with a four-inch upward facing subwoofer.
An Apple A8 SoC powers it and the company Apple has designed it in a way that the speaker adjusts to its surroundings, which is known as ‘spatial awareness’ that lets the speaker tune the sound according to space. It has advanced echo cancellation that allows Siri to understand if people are standing near the device or across the room. It adjusts the volume accordingly.
“An Apple-designed A8 chip powers the most complex audio innovations in HomePod. Like real-time modeling of the woofer mechanics. Buffering that’s even faster than real time. Upmixing of both direct and ambient audio. Beamforming so the microphone can hear you over the music. And advanced echo cancellation. So you get amazing sound without even thinking about it.”
HomePod is compatible with Apple Music and can easily access full playlist on the app. It comes integrated with a six-microphone array, which is used to access Siri, seamlessly. Users will be able to ask Siri music related questions such as “Who’s playing guitar on this track?” or “What was the top song on June 5th, 2016?”
In addition, Siri can answer questions related to unit conversion, news, traffic, sports, weather, reminders, timers, and so much more. The Siri waveform will display on the top of HomePod to indicate if it is engaged. Also, HomePod is compatible with Apple services like iMessage and HomeKit.
As for the price tag, it will set you back by $349, which is quite steep for a device like this so we will have to provide a long list of features for you guys to tell you if it will be worth the money or not.
