If we thought that Xiaomi products came with an unfathomable price/performance ratio, then wait till you get a load of the hardware present in ZUK Z2. The smartphone is expected to be released in January and it is going to be carrying a killer price tag. After all, the company somehow has to exceed the expectations of smartphone users that got to witness its ZUK Z1.

ZUK Z2 Will Be Sporting A Snapdragon 820 And Its Price Tag Has Been Leaked To Be Cheaper Than OnePlus 2

ZUK Z2 is expected to be released during January 2016. This will effectively make the smartphone one of the very first to have a Snapdragon 820 running inside it. As you all know, the chipset is fabricated under Samsung’s 14nm FinFET, which only means that the overheating issue that thousands of smartphones owners experienced on their mobile devices will never have to be witnessed in products running this SoC.

Snapdragon 820 is running the company’s custom made Hydra cores, and instead of packing an octa-core processor, Qualcomm has placed in a quad-core CPU, confident that it will do the job quite well. Where ZUK Z1 featured 3GB of RAM, ZUK Z2 will have 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM present alongside the powerful chipset. While there is no mention of a screen size, it is possible that both smartphones are going to feature the same dimension; 5.5 inches. The only difference separating ZUK Z1 from ZUK Z2 is that the latter is going to be running a much more dense resolution as compared to its predecessor; 1440p as opposed to 1080p.

Moving on, the source mentions that the device is going to feature 64GB of on-board storage, but has not made an indication of a MicroSD slot. We are hoping that if ZUK Z2 does get announced in January, then it should sport a MicroSD slot otherwise the device will be following in the same footsteps as Galaxy Note 5, and we all know how that is going to end. According to the pricing details, the source reveals that the price of ZUK Z2 is going to be 2,000 Yuan, which when converted, gives you a total of $314.10.

This is actually surprising, since the base model of OnePlus 2; the one that has 3GB of RAM carries a price of $329. According to Xiaomi Today, it is possible that the funding being given to it from Lenovo is sufficient enough for it to price its handsets so low that it is effectively able to create a potential market for itself. On the company’s website, it states that ZUK Z1 comes with a price of $319.90, so the idea that ZUK Z2 is going to be sold for less than this is not being planted in our head.

Looks like we will get to know more details when the handset is being prepped for launch.
