Is there any wonder why the Xperia XZ Premium won the ‘Best New Smartphone’ award at MWC 2017? The high-end offering has all the workings and craftsmanship of a premium phone but it looks like thanks to unavailability of the Snapdragon 835 SoC, the company has been forced to push back the release date of the smartphone. However, it looks like you guys might not have to wait for that long for the phone to arrive because the latest leak suggests that Xperia XZ Premium might be available from the month of May.

No Indication of Pre-Sales Date, But Xperia XZ Premium Price Tag Spotted on Online Retailer and It Is Going to Cost You

Clove Technology, the UK-based online retailer has the Xperia XZ Premium listed on its website and it looks like the retail price of the smartphone is £537.50 ($659.03 USD and without VAT added), so it is priced around the base model of the iPhone 7. 64GB of internal storage has also been listed, which is the right amount stated inside the flagship when there isn’t any expandable storage running. According to media renders (via Pocket Now), the release date of the Xperia XZ Premium has been detailed as May 7, but we want you to take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for additional details to come through.

From a hardware specifications perspective, Xperia XZ Premium actually beat the Galaxy S8 in becoming the first Android smartphone to get announced running a Snapdragon 835. It is also the second phone ever to tout a 4K display and that 4K panel is not just going to be used when you want to view the gallery because you will also be able to enjoy the extensive interface of the smartphone in glorious 4K.

However, games and other media will be rendered in 1080p because the SoC and battery need room to breathe after all. The camera is going to be one of the key selling points and can capture 19MP images from the rear side. Hybrid autofocus will lock into the image at 0.03 seconds and the slow-motion video capture feature can record footage up to 960 frames per seconds.

Where you have devices that can record up to 240 frames per second, Sony takes it four steps further. The 5.5-inch is more than enough to help you grip the handset with ease as well enjoy media consumption without the screen looking tiny. As stated earlier, availability details of the Xperia XZ Premium have not been announced, but we will continue to update you in the coming days.
