Windows 10 Mobile Gets a New Redstone 3 “Feature2” Preview Build
Microsoft is today releasing Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3 “feature2” Insider Preview Build 15207 to Insiders in the Fast ring. Today’s build doesn’t bring anything new and is exactly the same as the Preview Build 15205 that was released last week. In the announcement post, Dona Sarkar said that the Build only adds one fix that focuses on privacy. Here’s the complete changelog:
This build is exactly the same as Build 15205 released last week but with one additional fix we would like extra coverage on from Insiders:
We have added a privacy page to the Windows 10 Mobile OOBE and upgrade experiences that allows you to quickly and effectively make common privacy changes while setting up the device. However, Insiders have reported that their device would crash or reboot shortly after unlocking their device for the first time after the upgrade if their device did not have a password configured to unlock the device. After updating to Build 15207, you will see this privacy page one more time – but should no longer experience a crash or reboot.
Thanks to the Insiders who reported this issue and helping us fix issues quickly like this one!
This new privacy section in Windows 10 Mobile OOBE is similar to the one introduced with Windows 10 Creators Update for PC. Following repeated news and reports of Microsoft trampling on user privacy, the company is now making it easier for users to overview and opt out of some privacy settings right after they update to a new build. From Basic to Full, Windows 10 Creators Update users now have comparatively more control over what data is being sent to the Redmond software maker.
Today’s Windows 10 Mobile 15207 is the third build coming from the new feature2 development branch after Microsoft split the Windows 10 Mobile development from the primary Redstone 3 PC development branch. Windows 10 Mobile feature2 builds are only available to a limited set of phones, as previously reported. The company is going to release Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update tomorrow on April 25 to the public. This update will also be available to the same 13 devices that are now eligible for all the upcoming public and Insider builds.
