With all the attention now fixated at Windows 10 Mobile after the launch of Windows 10 for desktops last week, Microsoft is taking its time to roll out any new build to the Insider members. No new build has been released in the last one month as Microsoft focused to deliver the operating system to desktop and laptop computers and is currently busy with bug fixing.

Earlier today, a ROM leaked for Lumia devices gave us some peek inside 10240 as it’s based on Windows 10 Mobile build 10240. This leaked ROM has come out of China and seems to be focusing on fixing the bugs more than the features. If you are feeling excited about the upcoming build, you can try it out on your Lumia smartphones. However, it is not recommended to try these leaked builds as they could potentially brick your device. While you might be willing to take the risk for significant changes, 10240 doesn’t bring in any new features and is also reportedly plagued with several bugs – reason why it didn’t make it to the Insider rings. This ROM is compatible with:

  • Lumia 640
  • Lumia 640 XL
  • Lumia 930

A new Windows 10 Mobile build isn’t very far away as Gabe Aul of the Windows Insider Program shared yesterday that the new mobile Insider build will be out in a few more days. The next build is expected to bring in some new features as it is coming after a long break to the Insider members.

The last build for Windows 10 Mobile was 10166 brought in a more polished user experience to the mobile operating system. Insider build 10166 also featured new animations and fixed some bugs as well. While Insider build 10240 seems to be focusing on bug squashing more than enhancing the features, upcoming build is expected to introduce some new features and tweaks to the OS.
