After playing around with the beta updates, Apple has seen fit to release its newest version of tvOS for the fourth generation Apple TV. If you happen to own Apple’s latest set-top box, the company has finally rolled out the latest tvOS 9.2.1 update. The new update comes with quite a handful of bug fixes and improvements while not forgetting to include performance enhancements. So lets dive in to see if the update is worth installing right now and what new features are offered with the tvOS 9.2.1 update.

tvOS 9.2.1 is inherited from the previous beta builds of the firmware that includes numerous behind the scene improvements and tweaks. However, we can be quite sure at this point that the Cupertino giant has not included any major features to the front. The upgrade will ultimately improve an overall experience rather than providing some new features.

If you’re willing to give the new updated firmware a go, you can manually install it from the Apple TV’s settings. The update has hit worldwide and if you can’t wait then it can be installed from within the Settings app of the Apple TV. The tvOS 9.2.1 can be installed with over the air mechanism by opening the Settings app of the Apple TV and then System > Software update. For those of you who have automatic updates turned on, the tvOS 9.2.1 will be installed automatically.

Apple’s latest tvOS 9.2.1 was in the testing phase for the past few weeks. Yet, the company failed to deliver new features followed by the tvOS 9.2 release. We have currently no word for the additional features, but we will definitely keep you guys posted if something new is discovered. In the past, there were no outward-facing features discovered in the beta updates as well. So technically, we knew what was coming.

tvOS 9.2.1 is the fourth update since the debut of the set-top box back in October of 2015. Comparatively, tvOS 9.2 was a much significant upgrade that introduced a range of features like Bluetooth keyboard support, dictation to Siri, app folders and Search in tvOS App Store. Nonetheless, we will keep our eyes open for any new changes.
