A Simple Trick Will Free A Lot Of Space On Your iPhone, And You Don’t Have To Jailbreak Or Anything

The year’s 2016 and Apple is still selling 16GB iPhones. While that may not be a cause of concern for some, given that certain people couldn’t care less about using a smartphone on a day to day basis, but a lot of users find it to be a real struggle, especially when it comes to saving photos and whatnot. In other words, 16GB should just die right now, without giving any sort of clarifications.

And while we can’t say for sure whether Apple will pull the plug on the 16GB iPhone altogether, there are ways you can follow to clear up storage space on your iPhone. Today, a new trick has emerged, and believe it or not, it works like magic! Without further ado, let’s jump right into how the whole thing works.

1. Go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud and make sure you have sufficiently less free storage space on your iPhone. 800MB or less is absolutely ideal.

2. Now open the iTunes app on your iPhone, head over to the Movies section, and search for ‘Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.’ Basically, any movie which is lengthy will do here. But we will opt for Lord of the Rings.

3. Tap on the ‘Rent‘ button. Instead of charging you for the movie, iTunes will throw you a message stating that you don’t have enough storage space on your device to download the movie. Tap on the ‘Settings‘ button when prompted for it.

4. You’ll notice that you’ve freed up some space automatically!

Repeat the process 4 to 5 times in order to free up as much space as possible.

It’s likely that iOS automatically gets rid of garbage files from our iPhone in order to make room for the movie itself. And much to our surprise, no crucial apps or photos are deleted or altered in any way for this to work, which is insanely awesome.

At this point, I have to admit that Android’s ‘Clear Cache’ option is a godsend in a lot of cases, especially if you’re looking to free up some storage space without having to delete something important.

Maybe that feature is left for iOS 10? Who knows!
