Telenor is all set to unveil a new web product – an online account management portal for its Persona Post Paid customers. You might have heard about some of this already if you attended any of the three Telenor sponsored meetups held at Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi over the past weekend. Bloggers were given a special sneak peak at the portal before its official announcement to get an early feedback and get a pre-launch viral campaign started to get some traffic.

Thanks to some old ties, I was given exclusive information about the development of the portal (In fact I was even asked to develop certain aspects of it earlier). The Telenor Persona Webportal aims to put the consumers in control of their accounts by giving them detailed access to various bits of information and subscribed services. The actual product is divided into two units, an Account management solution and an information portal making use of various social media services from around the web. The later part is powered by WordPress, which isn’t surprising at all given the fact that it is one of the best CMS around.

Telenor is also making good use of the Web 2.0 services like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to generate interest in their new solution – an intelligent move in my opinion to get the most out of your marketing budget. Here is the introductory commercial.

The Account Management web app is the core of this new product. You can actually order a new connection online with your desired number and get it delivered to your doorstep within a day. Other features include a secure online payment solution, value added service management, bill reports and a lot more.

I ordered a new Postpaid connection to try out the service because I didn’t have a Telenor number. Expect a full review soon where I would detail my experiences with the product. In the mean time, you are welcomed to share your views on it.
