A legend who goes by the name of Steve Jobs had been the centre of innovation and advancement for the Cupertino based company known to many as Apple had under his leadership and guidance were able to achieve all the milestones they did in the past. But soon due to his ailing health, he was bound to leave the post sooner or later. And today is a sad day in history especially for Apple as Steve Jobs has sent a letter to the Board of Directors at Apple announcing his retirement from the post of CEO.

In a letter to the board of Directors at Apple as well as the huge Apple community, Steve had this to say:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

Earlier in January this year, Steve Jobs had left on medical leave for an indefinite period. Many reports cited the return of his pancreatic cancer that eventually led to this. Steve on the other hand besides stepping down from the post of CEO has gotten elected as chairman of Apple’s board of Directors that has been put into effective immediately.
