The highly hilarious 2D side-scrolling platform game Shovel Knight will be available in the Xbox One next week, according to a tweet by Major Nelson.

Shovel Knight is shoveling his way over to the Xbox One sometime next week.

This new confirmation comes after an error on Major Nelson’s part that stated Shovel Knight would be available this week. However, we can certainly expect it to arrive via the Xbox Live marketplace next week. This time he’s sure of his information.

Today marks the release of Shovel Knight on the PS4, PS3 and the PS Vita with the ability to fight Kratos from God of War as a PlayStation platform exclusive. Xbox One owners will also get their own exclusive content in the form of the Battletoads making an appearance.

Shovel Knight is a fantastic throwback to the classic side-scrolling adventures we used to enjoy on the NES, SNES and Sega platforms. It features beautiful 8-bit graphics combined with a classic chiptune soundtrack composed by Jake Kaufman to bring back the classic atmosphere and add to it. It’s not the retro throwaway you might be thinking of, Shovel Knight actually captures the historic essence of our favorites and re-imagines them in a unique and truly brilliant way.

Within Shovel Knight you take control of the Shovel Knight to rescue Shield Knight from the Enchantress and fight the eight members of The Order of No Quarter along the way. Fight unique bosses and interact with compelling NPC’s in the hub towns as you spend your hard earned cash on upgrades.

You can buy Shovel Knight on PC, Nintendo Wii U and 3DS, PS4, PS3 and the PS Vita right now with the Xbox One version coming next week.
