Samsung’s announcement date of the Galaxy S8 was slated for an April 18 release date, along with the company initially releasing a batch of 10 million smartphone shipments in order to get the momentum running against its competitors. However, according to a brand new report, Samsung could be planning to release the Galaxy S8 during the month of February. We feel that this could be a low-key announcement compared to what’s going to be held during the month of April.

According to a source that spoke with The Investor under the condition that the source remained anonymous, Samsung is expected to showcase the Galaxy S8 before its actual announcement:

“There is a possibility of the S8 phones being showcased a month or two ahead of the actual release date.”

However, according to a different source, Samsung is going to stick to its original mid-April announcement date.

“As the release date of the S8 has been postponed to mid-April, Samsung seems to have set a more ambitious goal than before to make up for the loss caused by the Note model, which has so far led Samsung’s smartphone business every first quarter.”

A different report states that Samsung has grand plans for its Galaxy S8, and is estimated to ship around 60 million units of the flagship. It has not been specified if the sales target is going to remain for the entire 2017 period, or a smaller duration but looking at how tough the competition is, we’re inclined to say that the company aims to ship the aforementioned number for the 2017 calendar year.

Galaxy S8 is expected to come with several key features that were not present on its predecessors. This would include an optional stylus accessory, not to mention removal of the physical home button to increase the overall screen-to-body ratio, plus a pressure sensitive display similar to the one present in Apple’s iPhone lineup.
