In less than a couple of hours Samsung is going to unveil its new flagship Android smartphone. So it makes sense for us to do a detailed Galaxy S4 rumor roundup, just to give our readers an idea of what to expect. There have been an insane amount of Galaxy S4 rumors, unlike ever before. Lets jump right in.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Rumor Roundup:
Initially it was rumored that Samsung would release its new device sometime in April, that too in Europe. This is the first time that a launch event is being organized in the U.S. The announcements for previous devices have been made in a variety of European locations. The event is taking place at Radio City Music Hall in New York, a venue which can seat over 6,000 people. A special display is also being set up in Times Square, which the public will be able to experience the new Galaxy S4. Launching a flagship device in the U.S. is a very interesting move on Samsung’s part, as the message is loud and clear, attacking Apple on its home turf.
Galaxy S4 Specifications:
Since the S4 is going to be a next generation device, we can expect it to have an amazing hardware package. As per rumors, U.S. models of the S4 will feature a Qualcomm 600 quadcore processor and the international models will feature Exynos 5 Octa 5 quadcore processor. Both of these chips were announced back in January at CES 2013. The bottom line is that S4 is going to be powered by a quadcore processor, regardless of the specifics. RAM is expected to be upwards of 2GB.
There are going to be six variants of Galaxy S4, as per the rumors. It is going to be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB in both black and white colors. A third color, Pebble Blue to be precise, is expected to be made available later on. A microSD slot for memory expansion has also been rumored. The back camera is expected to be 13 megapixels with a Sony Exymor RS lens, which will just about blow all other smartphone cameras out of the park. Providing the juice for this behemoth is reportedly going to be a 2,000 mAh behemoth. There has been chatter about the possibility of wireless charging as well.
Galaxy S4 Design:
Now our Samsung Galaxy S4 rumor roundup won’t be complete if we don’t talk about the design. Much has already been said and written about it. The device is most likely to be fashioned out of polycarbonate plastic, which Samsung seems to love very much. This also means that the back cover will be removable, allowing users to swap batteries when required. Some sort of a metal bezel has also been rumored, infact we saw that in the first allegedly leaked photos of the S4. Latest rumors suggest that the device will be 7.7mm thin. Last but not the least, there’s going to be a Home button up front that Galaxy users have become quite fond of.
Galaxy S4 Display:
Here’s comes the interesting part. Samsung always bumps up the screen size whenever a new flagship Galaxy smartphone is launched. The current S3 has a 4.8 inch display. The one for S4 is expected to be 5 inches, that’s humongous by the way for a smartphone that you’re supposed to carry around in your pocket. It will reportedly be a Super AMOLED display with full 1080p HD resolution measuring up to 1920×1080 pixels. Rumor has it that the display will use Samsung’s green PHOLED technology, making the Galaxy S4 display 25% more efficient then that of previous devices. This basically translates to better battery life, apart from the fact that this display is going to offer incredible clarity. There has also been talk about technology that would allow users to interact with the display without actually having to touch it. No solid word on that, though.
Galaxy S4 Software:
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is the latest version of Google’s mobile platform and this is what the S4 is expected to have on board. Jelly Bean was released last year and we’re going to get a new one in Summer. Yesterday Apple’s SVP of world-wide marketing Phil Schiller said in an interview that the S4 is going to be released on year old software and that customers will have to wait for an update, he believes that this is just one of the reasons why the iPhone is superior. That’s beside the point though, judging by the hype that surrounds S4, I think prospective users aren’t bothered that much. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will definitely be on board too. Swiftkey, which offers excellent predictive typing, is also expected.
So we reach the end of our Samsung Galaxy S4 rumor roundup. This was a recap of what has been rumored about Samsung’s upcoming flagship Android device over the past couple of months. The company is known for running a tight ship when it comes to new devices, this time around a lot more has apparently leaked as opposed to when S3 was about to launch. Who knows, perhaps the real deal is different after all.
