Aaron Greenberg, Xbox Global Director of Games Marketing, during an interview on  The Inner Circle Podcast, was asked about what Rare is working on, to which he replied that they are working on multiple projects and the company is preparing an announcement for the public.

It’s going through the process of preparing to unveil their next things, they have multiple projects in development and we feel really good about them.

Rare, has been responsible for some truly great titles in its glory days,

Rare has been responsible for some very important titles in its past, including GoldenEye 007, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark and Conker’s Bad Fur Day. After they were acquired by Microsoft, they developed games like Kameo: Elements of Power, Viva Pinata and Kinect Sports. Although not exactly ground breaking, these titles had some very unique elements. It would be really interesting to see what they have in store, and whether they can regain their former glory.

He was asked whether Twisted Pixel are collaborating with any other developers for their new project, as there were rumors, that Rare and Twisted Pixel were collaborating on a new project, he replied,

Twisted Pixel is not working on a game with any other internal studios.

They have an exciting project they’re working on as well, very unexpected and very different and we’ll just wait to surprise people with what it is.

Twisted Pixel is working on a new Innovative title

He clarified that the studio is working alone on its projects and that they have an exciting project that is unique and innovative and people are going to be surprised. Twisted Pixel is a developer that is known for attempting to innovate, and even though some of their offerings didn’t exactly succeed that, others were quite entertaining, The Gunslinger, a Kinect game for the Xbox 360, is one good example of that. ‘Splosion Man was also one of Twisted Pixel’s very good offerings.

When he was asked whether the developer’s next game is a big AAA title, he replied,

“I don’t know, I just think of a game as a game. They’ve made a lot of great games,” said Greenberg. “They’re doing something different, I wouldn’t classify by size, I just think it’s different and innovative.”

It would be interesting to see what both of these developers have in store for us, but personally I am more excited to learn what Rare is working on. With GDC just around the corner and E3 coming later this year, we will certainly have some really exciting news coming from Microsoft.
