Plex For iOS Updated With Revamped Interface, Rotten Tomatoes Integration And More

Plex is one of the most popular media service that organize all of your music, TV, video, streams and photo collection. The latest iteration of the iOS appĀ has been revealed today that boasts a complete overhaul of the Plex for iOS app. The changes stretch from revamped visuals to structural changes as well as several new features.

Plex for iOS has not been updated for a long while and the reason for that does not matter at all since the update has finally arrived. The reworked Plex for iOS app has been build from scratch and includes features such as Plex Home, Support for multi-discs, Plex Mix music videos, secure connections and a lot of other changes that users will find in the update. Before you update, Plex users should make sure that the Plex media server is up to date to the latest version. Another thing that users should take note is the fact that the updated Plex for iOS runs on iOS 8.1 or up.

Plex For iOS Gets A Complete Redesign In New Update

The updated Plex for iOS now supports an even richer media browsing. With that said, you would now get recommendations, view similar movies and also the ability to view directors or actor based movies from within the Plex app. This enhances the functionality of the app and gives more of a personal feel to the Plex user on iOS.

Other than this, the Plex for iOS update also adds integration for the Rotten Tomatoes. This makes viewing reviews and ratings for your favorite movies as easy as it could be and right from within the app. You no longer have to open a separate app for it.

Video chapters are also part of the Plex update as now you can skip movie chapters and jump to certain scenes. There are two ways how Plex can fetch chapter information, read it from user’s media files or the ChapterDb website.

Finally, Plex’s latest Sync v2 technology has been introduced in the update. For all those not familiar with it, it improves the speed and stability of Plex Sync.

The Plex for iOS app is now free to download from the App Store while previously it used to cost $4.99. The free version gives you the ability to fling content from the Camera Roll to the Plex Player and use your device as a remote control. However, usersĀ can unlock more features with Plex Pass account or use in-app-purchases.
