Nintendo has recently revealed its E3 2015 plans, and today they announced that president Satoru Iwata will not be attending the event.
Nintendo explained in a statement to IGN,

“Nintendo’s focus for E3 this year will be showcasing the many games we have coming for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Mr. Miyamoto and other members of our development team will be in Los Angeles to explain these games and the unique experiences that each offers. Mr. Iwata’s focus in this period will be on other areas of our business that require his presence in Japan.”

Although they clarified that Iwata would be constantly in touch with the crew at E3. This unfortunately indicates that there will be no big surprise announcements or reveals especially regarding Nintendo’s new system “NX”.

The new Star Fox will surely be making an appearance, although the new Legend of Zelda game for the Wii  has been confirmed to be absent from the show.

Platinum Games have recently teased something Metroid related, which could be in regards to a new Metroid title being in developed by either the studio themselves or Retro Studios, indicating a reveal at E3 2015. That would really be quite exciting as fans have been looking forward to anew Metroid for quite some time now.

Nintendo just recently announced that it aims to remove region locking on its future game consoles, president Satoru Iwata said during a recent investor Q&A session, following the company’s latest earnings report.

“Removing region-locking from current game machines presents various issues, so we don’t consider that to be very realistic,” he said (translation by Cheesemeister on NeoGaf) when asked for an update on Nintendo’s take on locking copies of games to only work in certain parts of the world. “However, regarding NX, given the customer feedback and proposals from the market, while nothing has been decided yet, we’re currently investigating internally what problems there would be in realizing it.

“You can think of that as the current situation. I understand your desire, so I’d like to look at it optimistically going forward.”

We will bring you any new information on Nintendo and E3 2015 as soon as it becomes available.
