Posted 2 years ago

In our previous coverage of The Memory of Eldurim, we touched upon Liminal Games open world RPG. At GDC 2015 the team demonstrated their title to their fans. They describe their game as Skyrim meets Dark Souls.

Liminal Games is the first company to partner with Crytek under their indie license agreement, and were invited to host a live demonstration of The Memory of Eldurim,

Liminal Games’ CEO Bryan Excell said:

“We know it’s an ambitious task for our small team of 3 full-time developers, but we have pushed out a lot of content and we update our game nearly every week.”

During a presentation at Crytek’s booth, Liminal Games were given a chance to discuss their project and each team member took turn in discussing their individual roles in the project.

Lead storyline developer, Bentley Snow stated:

“The CRYENGINE provides a worthy platform for us to deliver our story.”

The GDC demo featured a large island and a beautiful temple, which players were able to explore.

In closing, Bentley Snow explained:

“We want players to know from the onset that there is more to this world than they first suspect, and we think these scenes convey that really well, and in a dramatic way.”

Liminal Games have big plans for The Memory of Eldurim

The Memory of Eldurim, is currently on Steam Early Access, and is described as

The Memory of Eldurîm is a 3D open-world action RPG set in an original fantasy world. Terms like “Action RPG” and “Open world” get thrown around a lot these days, so let’s be a bit more specific. The Memory of Eldurîm is a 3rd/1st person game where you control a character that lives in a unique fantasy.

We have big plans for The Memory of Eldurîm. We want it to be a game that you can always come back to, to see what’s new and what we’ve been adding. We have been working on putting in a story line. Once our story line has been finished and it is ready, we will release it, and bring our game out of Early Access.

Right now the game is a fully playable. It takes place on a large island that is fully explorable. There are enemies to fight, loot to find, spells to cast, bosses to defeat, and the very early beginnings of what will be our story line. Most importantly, the game is at a state where we update it often with significant changes that improve the gameplay.

Kamiya: Microsoft Really Believes in Scalebound, They Have Such A Breadth of Resources To Support Us

Liminal Games are currently working on many additional features for the game,

So many features. We will be adding in stealth combat, different combos for different weapon load outs, a lot more armor and weapons, more enemy types, more story line elements, stealth, faction interaction, more landmasses to explore, crafting, mounts, customizable character, improvements to the UI, and more.

We are going to add these features, and more like them for sure – but is there a feature that the community really wants? We are going to set up a system where users can submit ideas to be implemented in the game and vote on which ideas are the best. We want our community to help us determine how to make the Memory of Eldurîm the best gaming experience possible.

The Memory of Eldurim is shaping up into a very beautiful title, and with the dedication the team is indeed demonstrating, it will keep improving and expanding. We will bring you any more information on the title, as soon as it becomes available.

The Memory of Eldurim is currently available on Steam Early Access for $19.99 as an early alpha game client.
