The Last of Us is without a doubt one of Naughty Dog’s most anticipated titles of 2012, after stealing the show with Uncharted 3 in 2011 the company is out to set a new record and out do them selves better than before. The game has been in development for 2 years now and the release date has been confirmed as a Q4 2012 launch for the PS3 exclusively. While a lot of information about the game was covered in Gameinformer March these new screenshots appeared on a forum and appear to be very legit.

Sony has been releasing updates very frequently but this one is quite a special circumstance. Earlier this month it was announced that PlayStation Network (PSN) Is being renamed to Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) This firmware will finalize that final step into implementing it and effectively converting all PSN accounts to SEN accounts. If you don’t want to wait for a slow download from your PS3 you can download the firmware directly by reading ahead along with instruction guide on how to install it.

Gameinformer is among the few privileged enough to get sneak peeks at Naughty Dogs upcoming action / adventure title, after their success in the Uncharted trilogy the developers have decided to work on something new, their latest project is the last of us and Gameinformer March issue details some of the features of the game we can come to expect along with HD magazine scans of the game.

While we saw a peek at some screenshots earlier its still good to see more material.

Ever since the launch of the PS3 Naughty Dog has shown us time after time that they can always make a breath taking and stunning masterpiece in terms of graphics, some of which will even make PC and XBOX 360 owners admit that the PS3 is indeed superior in terms of these games, This was shown to us in Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Uncharted: Among Thieves and more recently in Uncharted: Drakes Deception where Naughty Dog delivered an amazing graphical presentation with a great mix of shootouts, melee, amazing scripted events and some of the best action sequences in a video game, now Naughty Dog is doing it again with their newest title “The Last of Us”

Houston we have a problem! Months after the announcement of the Vita it was announced that the handheld is region free just like the PS3 where any region game can run on any region of console but it seems that one Sony customer got very angry when he found out that this is not true and that all the sites “misinterpreted” Sony’s statements.

This is surely going to put Sony in an awkward position as many gaming sites confirmed that the system WOULD be region free but Sony never spoke out about this, This is surely trouble in paradise for Sony if it does prove to be true.

Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City could be headed for the PlayStation 3 due to them both showing up on the ERSB website, this is great news for fans of the old games who miss the games that started the fan base for GTA. Rockstar ported GTA 3 for the iOS so why won’t they be able to port GTA 3 and GTA Vice city for the PS3? Hopefully the game will come with trophies, improved textures and much more improvements. Right now Sony and Rockstar are mum about the thing but can you really call two different games showing two different ratings on ERSB official site a fluke?

Those of us who have played Wipeout on the PS3 will definitely find the video interesting, Wipeout racing has always been amazing gravity defying, weapon based and challenging racing. With the EU and NA launch of the PlayStation Vita coming up soon one of the launch titles to be offered with the handheld along side Uncharted: Golden Abyss and many more amazing titles! While the Vita missed a christmas launch date and was launched exclusively in Japan it won’t be soon until the Vita sales pick up once the system goes global.

Earlier there was a news blast from MCV UK who claimed that their “concrete” source had told them that PS4 and XBOX 720(?) would be present at this years E3 but official word from Sony has shot down any such rumors and Sony claims that the console ( PS3 ) is only entering its great period.

How a site like MCV UK could make such a mistake is shocking but considering that they never provided a valid source or proper proof that the console will even be a show I wouldn’t say that it wasn’t expected for Microsoft or Sony to shoot down many gamers dreams of a new console being unveiled this year (unless you want the Wii-U).

While I had high hopes for this years E3 and was expecting the 3 major consoles to be under one roof it seems that this year will only be the year of the Wii-U (and maybe the next XBOX too?) Sony has just confirmed that the PS4 is not even in the books right now as they are solely focused on the PS3 at the moment, with rumors of a new God of War coming even stronger via the Facebook page reveal and the job postings and not to mention Naughty Dog’s upcoming project “The Last of Us” I can only expect great things from Sony here on, considering how 2011 marked the launch of almost every exclusive title for the PlayStation 3 the system has still got a lot of life left in it.

SCE President Andrew House stated: (Taken from Source)

“I don’t think we’re contemplating talking about anything to do with future console iterations at this point,” Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House told CVG, noting that Sony is “just entering into this great period for PS3.”

Instead, says Sony, keep yours eyes on the PS3: “[One] thing I always point to is that, somewhat in contrast to our major competitors, we have, particularly with PS2, managed the length of the lifecycle and ensured its profitability for our publishing partners for a much longer lifecycle than has been true of the competition,” says House. It’s true, so long as we stick to set-top consoles (though Sony’s only released two to date, so the “always” part’s statistically flat).

While it’s a shame that we won’t see a new console aside from the Wii-U this year but unless Microsoft is the next to respond to the rumor by shooting it down then we will only expect the usual E3 stuff of game trailers, upcoming projects for each console and more focus on the Wii-U.

e3
Industry

Well it seems that this year just got a whole lot better, MCV UK has just reported that this E3 will see the appearance of a new PlayStation system AND a New XBOX, while the new PlayStation will obviously be the PlayStation 4 the next XBOX could be anything but speculation is highly optimistic towards the name “XBOX 720″ Seeing as how the name has been XBOX —> XBOX 360 —> XBOX 720? But I hope Microsoft thinks up a better name for it because I will hate going into a store and asking for an XBOX 720.

The Last of Us has been under my radar for a while now and with the recent VGA 2011 trailer I am very excited for this game, but Sony has decided to do a little marketing and hand out free Last of Us Dynamic theme codes, sadly the codes only work on United States accounts but you can always make a second account on your PS3 right? You can get the product code below:
