Microsoft seems to be all ready to launch its “major” Windows 8.1 Update 1 in the coming month. Not that I am a fan of Windows 8 (who can get over those good ol’ days of smooth, consistent Windows 7), but let’s hope this new update brings some good vibes to its users along with, of course, all these features leaked in screenshot.leaked windows 8.1 update 1 images

Yep, the upcoming Windows 8.1 Update 1 was leaked in a plenty of screenshots by various file sharing websites. Microsoft is expected to release the final version of Windows 8.1 Update 1 on March 11th before the Build Developers Conference in April. This leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 seems to be compiled on January 14th. Here are the details of Windows 8.1 Update 1.

Leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 screenshots:

The leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 confirms that this early build will include some improvements to the keyboard and mouse experience in Windows 8.1. The Update 1 features include:

– New title bar: A new title bar is added for Windows 8 apps. This will allow you to close, minimize, or snap apps side by side using a mouse. This Windows 8.1 Update title bar occupies some little space at the top of all Metro apps. Seems very useful option to quickly navigate apps using a mouse.

Search and Shutdown in Start: The leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 images also show a new search button and a shutdown option right in the Start screen. Search brings the regular interface already used by Windows 8, wheres the Shutdown will give you age old drop-down menu for restart, shutdown, and sleep options.

Live Tile: Start screen also has another addition. Now, when you would right-click on Live Tiles, you will see a menu with options to resize, unpin and various other such options. leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1

Taskbar: A new option in desktop taskbar settings will let you show Store apps listing all the Metro apps with the window preview.

These leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 images show that Microsoft is trying to blend the Metro / Modern interface bringing some balance between the modern and desktop interface elements. Let’s wait for March (or would it be released in April Build 2014 Developers Conference?) to see if Microsoft actually succeeds in winning the users back.
