‘Kingdom’ A Delightful Fantasy Pixel Art Adventure Revealed
Today we see the reveal trailer for a great looking Pixel Art game, Kingdom. In it, you play a mighty ruler who must decide how to spend the kingdom’s wealth, but must be weary of the consequences that the treasure holds.
Kingdom is a unique take on 2D side-scrolling adventures.
It gives you a giant world to explore and rule, where the money you spend has a very direct impact on what happens. The consequences are real, so one must be careful! Kingdom looks to stand apart from the crowd by offering a dynamic world in which to explore with RPG elements so as to help you improve your kingdom. All in a very nicely rendered retro pixel art style.
Pixel art games, those games that try to imitate older games with the tremendously creative line-art to evoke retro enthusiasm, are coming back in force. This isn’t just a homage, but a decided evolution using tools and techniques we might otherwise be familiar with in other capacities.
Wise Rulers know their kingdom will fall, Brave Rulers do not despair. Great Rulers know riches can rule, Calculating Rulers spend every coin with care. In Kingdom, each coin spent can tip the balance between prosperity and decay. Attend to your domain, border to border, or venture into the wild to discover its wonders and its threats. Master the land, build your defenses and, when the darkness comes, stand with your people to protect them from the trolls who come out at night, crown on your head, until the very end.
Kingdom is being developed by Raw Fury, two world-class developers from the Netherlands, and hope to redefine what it means to be easy to play, yet difficult to master. It’ll be out on the PC, and on Mac and Linux “when ready.”
