Apple was generous enough to bundle a Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter with every purchase of the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. This would help prevent future adopters of these phones prevent running into port compatibility problems in the future.

However, the next rumor claimed that the company was not going to show its generous side with the announcement of the iPhone 8, meaning the consumers would have to spend additional money to purchase this dongle. Luckily for those who are waiting for the arrival of the iPhone 8, it looks like you will still get to see that adapter as a part of those packaged accessories.

Analyst States That Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Will Come Bundled With iPhone 8 – Might Cease to Exist With 2018 Lineup

iPhone enthusiasts might have been salty when they found out that Apple removed the headphone jack. Still, with the iPhone 8 announcement, they can rejoice knowing that this accessory will be a part of the packaged ones when the phone is announced possibly during the month of September. According to Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis (via 9to5Mac), you might be able to enjoy the freebie this year, but starting from the 2018 lineup, the adapter might cease to exist.

“Debate whether Lightning adapter stays in box, we believe it stays this year but goes away at some point, potentially in the 2018 model.”

What the analyst does not explain is if the adapter will stop getting manufactured completely. We do not think that Apple is going to make this big of a move but rather continue to sell the accessory on its store for the same price as the current one, which costs $9.99. While users can continue to spend money on this accessory, this move could probably be used to discourage the use of adapters and move them to purchase wireless audio products such as the AirPods or BeatsX.

Looking at the current-gen iPhones, the wired earphones with the Lightning port could still be a part of those accessories but to be honest, they are extremely delicate and their sound quality is below par.
