During the announcement of the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, Apple also announced its Lightning to USB Type-C cable, along with a Type-C USB power brick. While it carries a price tag of $50, there is one huge reason why you would want to make such an investment for your iPad Pro.

Apple’s 12.9 inch iPad Pro comes with a 12W charger included in the packaging. However, the USB Type-C adapter is able to deliver power to the massive slate 64 percent faster as opposed to the regular charger. In fact, 9to5Mac made their own tests and concluded that the regular 12W charger was only able to charge Apple’s iPad Pro up to 5 percent in 20 minutes, whereas the new power brick was able to charge the tablet up to 14 percent during the exact same time span.

According to the tests, there was a properly controlled environment, with airplane mode on, and the screen on max brightness until the timer hit 10 minutes, then on minimum brightness for the remaining 10 minutes. The only disappointing thing is that why did Apple not bundle this charger with the 12.9 inch slate? It is obvious that the company would either have charged you more for each storage model, and it is clear that the tech giant is charging you top dollar for purchasing premium accessories, which might not be the right thing to do in the name of righteousness, but we live in an imperfect world.

However, you will need to purchase a Type-C USB cable, and that will set you back by even more funds. The Lightning to USB-C cable has been listed to carry a price of $25 for the 1 meter version and $35 for the 2 meter version. Before purchasing the cable, you will have to keep in mind that this accessory has been designed for the 12.9 inch iPad Pro and not the newly announced one.  Apple has not specified any official warning that using this cable will harm the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, but if it has not been clarified by the company, then it is naturally a good idea to steer clear from this purchase if you intend on purchasing the 9.7 inch slate.
