Intel’s Core i7 990X Extreme Edition Available, Brings Price cuts to Core i7 970/960.

Intel has finally released its latest CPU which belongs to its LGA 1366 Extreme Edition Family, The Core i7 990X Extreme Edition. The new CPU is a Gulftown based Processor made using a 32nm process. Other than the launch of the new CPU, Intel also announced huge price cuts on two of its i7 Processors (i7 970 and i7 960).

The Core i7 990X Extreme Edition is Intel’s Top of the line CPU which is built on a 32nm process featuring a 3.46Ghz Core Clock which can turbo up to 3.73Ghz using Intel’s Turbo Boost technology. Featuring Six Cores and Twelve Threads while utilizing Intel’s Hyper Threading Technology, This processor is a must for High-End users. Other than this it supports 6x256kB of L2 cache, 12MB of L3 cache and also support for triple-channel DDR3-1066 memory while coming with an Unlocked Multiplier and a max TDP of 130W.

The price of the new processor as stated by Intel is 999$ however Newegg has listed it for 1049.99$. Another news is that Intel has announced price cuts on its currently available CPU’s which includes the six-core Core i7-970 (12MB of L3-cache) has dropped from US $885 to US $583 while the 45nm Core i7-960 quad-core (8MB of L3-cache) has dropped from US $562 to an incredible US $294.
