Instagram wants you to share more photos on the photo-sharing platform. How it wants you to do that is simple – raise the number of photos per post. Instagram’s new approach allows users to share up to 10 photos or videos at once. The carousels will feature the first photo or video to your Instagram feed, while the remaining photos in the batch can be swiped left or right. Let’s see some ore details on the subject.

You Can Now Share Multiple Photos Or Videos In A Single Post On Instagram

It’s not the first time Instagram has brought the idea to life, but a few years back the company introduced a surprisingly useful feature to the app that allowed users to upload multiple photos at once. Your followers would then swipe on a carousel of images. However, the feature was only restricted to advertisers and not the average user. Today, this has changed as it is now available to regular users as well.

As Instagram details in its official blog post: “You no longer have to choose the single best photo or video from an experience you want to remember.” This means that you no longer have to put your mind in finding the best photo to be shared. The company has indirectly lowered the bars for what users consider their photos to be worthy of sharing on the photo sharing platform.

The new feature is rolling out on iOS as well as Android. Unlike Instagram Stories, the new feature does not give you permission to doodle over photos or add stickers. However, you do have the option to either edit the entire batch of photos and videos or individual photos and videos. Prior to publish, you will be given an option to rearrange or reorder photos and videos. Nonetheless, tags, comments and likes are applied to the entire post instead of a single specific photo.

One downside of the new feature is that posts are limited to square ratio images and videos. This is something that the company did away with back in 2015. Probably in the near future, Instagram will remove this restriction as well.

To distinguish posts with multiple images, Instagram has added a dedicated icon within your profile feed. This denotes that the post contains more than a single image. Moreover, when looking at photos or images, the blue dots at the bottom denotes that there is more content to show that you can view by swiping left or right.

It’s definitely a neat addition and provides a whole lot of option for the regular user. What do you think about adding multiple photos or videos in a single post? Share your thoughts in the comments.
