Here’s how you can record gameplay on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch.

Record

We all have that epic moment in gaming where we wished that we were able to record all of the in-game footage and show it off to our friends or just upload it to YouTube for other people to watch. While many developers include a ‘replay’ feature within their games, allowing us to relive a specific moment of our gameplay, but quite frankly, it’s not an ideal solution. And if you’re looking towards recording everything from start to finish on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, then here’s what you need to do, with the steps being extremely simple to follow.

Before you begin, it’s important to note that this method will only work if you have a Mac computer at hand running the latest version of OS X along with QuickTime. If you do not fulfill that requirement then you’re not good to go, and might want to skip to the last paragraph of this post.

1. Set up your device to record the display by following this guide here: Record iPhone And iPad Screen Using OS X – How To. Follow the guide up till step 5 where you initiate the recording procedure.

2. Simply launch the game you want to record and when you’re done, tap the Home button to go back to the home screen of your iOS device.

3. Now simply click on ‘File’ and then ‘Save’ in the Mac menu bar to save your recording.

From here on in, you can edit the video to your liking and then share it anywhere you desire. The process is a little complicated at first, but once you try out for a couple of times, it feels like a piece of cake.

For Jailbreak Users

If you happen to be jailbroken however, then you can record everything on-device using a tweak called Display Recorder. The tweak is absolutely free and was recently updated to support iOS 9 – 9.0.2, hence you’ll be well covered if you’re running Cupertino’s latest mobile OS. But do keep one thing in mind: the recording process is happening on your device, which means that you’ll witness dropped frames and low quality in many places. But if that’s not your concern then Display Recorder is the way to go. Although we would suggest to opt for QuickTime for recording the display as the quality is high and everything looks absolutely crisp.
