Here’s how you can give your Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge a significant speed boost instantly.

Samsung Galaxy S6

On paper the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones are powerful devices, but in the real world both handsets tend to slow down in the oddest of places. But in today’s guide, we’ll walk you through a simple trick that will give your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge an instant boost in speed. The best part? You don’t need to install third-party software or tinker around with your handset using a USB cable or anything.

Give Your Galaxy S6, S6 Edge An Instant Speed Boost

1. Launch the Settings app on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge handset, scroll all the way down and tap on ‘About device.’

2. Here you should see an entry called ‘Build number.’ Keep on tapping it until you see a prompt telling you that Developer Options have been enabled.

3. Go back to the main Settings screen and scroll all the way down. Tap on ‘Developer Options.’

4. See the ‘Window animation scale,’ ‘Transition animation scale,’ and ‘Animator duration scale’ entries? Tap on them and set them to ‘Off.’ Refer to the screenshot below to get an idea what we are talking about.

This will turn off all the funky animations on your device, giving it a pleasant speed boost when you’re performing tasks. We highly recommend that you restart your device for the full changes to set in.

While animations do tend to give the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge a bit of personality during usage, but they can take a massive toll on the overall performance of the device in a bunch of places. After all, turning animations off means that you’re taking a significant amount of load off the handsets’ GPU and RAM both, making room for additional tasks.

If you want to revert back to default changes, simply turn off Developer Options altogether by flicking the toggle switch at the top to the OFF position. Also restart your device just in case.

Lastly, turning off animations has another advantage which we didn’t speak of in the above guide – it helps preserve a tiny bit of battery life as well. It’s absolutely handy if you’re aware of the fact that you would be without a charger for a while and might not be able to make it through the day.
