Here’s When HTC Devices Will Get Android 7.0 Nougat
When will HTC 10, HTC One M9 and HTC One A9 get Android 7.0 Nougat? Here’s the official answer from HTC itself.
HTC Reveals Rough Time-Frame For Android 7.0 Nougat Rollout
Android 7.0 Nougat has been officially released and it’s only a matter of time when the update will hit devices other than the Nexus lineup from Google. Sony, on the other hand, was quick enough to announce when its devices will receive the latest dessert from Google, and now it is HTC’s turn to take the cake.
Here’s what the company had to say about it in an official tweet.
So there you have it – if you have an unlocked HTC 10, the smartphone will get Nougat in Q4 of this year. Later on, the recipients of the update are going to be unlocked versions of the HTC One M9 and One A9, with carrier versions getting Nougat at the very end.
It’s somewhat sad why carriers tend to delay updates, causing quite a bit of stir among users. But that’s how things are, sadly. And there’s no way we can go around it, until or unless the carrier itself comes up with a mechanism to speed things up dramatically.
We will be keeping a close eye on Android 7.0 Nougat update as it is announced by more manufacturers in the days to come, so stay tuned for our coverage regarding that.
The HTC 10 didn’t turn out to be the blockbuster smartphone the company hoped for. In fact, the sales of the phone were so bad, T-Mobile had to shut down sales during the month of July this year. Still, the smartphone packs quite a bit of punch, with things topped off with a premium metal and glass design.
It actually boggles our mind why HTC doesn’t get the love like it used to before. And on a personal note, I really love the hardware HTC churns out. It have premium written all over it, and they have the best third-party software skin out there. Period.
The HTC 10 and One A9 offer the best software experience as it is, and it will be interesting to see how Nougat will take things up a notch. Guess we’ll know for sure starting Q4 of this year.
