Who doesn’t like playing games on their iOS device? Rockstar games is well aware of this fact and that is why they have ported one of their most successful titles over to Apple’s mobile platform. It has been announced today that GTA Vice City for iOS will be released on 6th December 2012.
In a press statement today Rockstar has confirmed its intentions of releasing this nostalgic title for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on the aforementioned date. This title was originally released for conventional gaming consoles an entire decade back. GTA Vice City for iOS commemorates the passing of that iconic decade.
This isn’t some half baked port that users will have a hard time playing with. Rockstar has really put in a lot of effort to make the GTA Vice City for iOS port work. The controls in particular have been optimized for touch screen interface and have been made customizable. Rockstar also adds in its press statement that this new port comes with several enhancements exclusive to the iOS platform. These enhancements include updated character models, lighting effects and new and more precise firing and targeting options.
Rockstar will definitely release GTA Vice City for iOS as a universal binary. Meaning that the game natively support iPad as well as iPhone and iPod touch. At this point in time it is not known which exact iOS devices the game will be compatible with. That’s not all though. This port will be available for Android devices as well. Though we can expect the release of Android port to be delayed a bit, like it happened when Rockstar ported over Max Payne to iOS and Android.
So come December 6th, GTA Vice City for iOS will be available for download from the iTunes App Store. Some good things in life are not free, this game certainly isn’t. It comes with a price tag of $5.
