The official Google app for iOS has received a major update, adding support for incognito mode, YouTube playback, Touch ID support, performance fixes and improved support for iOS 10.

Official Google App for iOS Now Better Than Ever With Added New Features

The official Google app for iOS is powerful in its own right and makes us wonder how the search engine giant can improve things even further. It seems as though the company has answered that question by releasing version 19.0 of its app, adding a ton of new features to the roster that are sure to appease regular users.

The complete changelog of the update is as follows, as per the App Store:

• Search privately with incognito mode — Turn on “incognito mode” in settings and your search and browsing history will not be saved. You can also enable Touch ID for incognito mode, ensuring that only you can re-enter your existing incognito session if you exit the app. Pro tip: you can also enter incognito mode with a 3D Touch shortcut by hard pressing on the app icon.
• Watch Youtube videos, right in Search — You can now instantly play YouTube videos, directly from search results. No need to open new webpage or the YouTube app.
• Improved compatibility with iOS 10 — increased stability for iOS 10 users.
• Performance improvements — Crash rate now reduced by 50%

The best addition in this update is the inclusion of Touch ID support, allowing you to jump right back into your incognito session by authenticating with your fingerprint first. Also, if you’re eager to play a video from YouTube, you can do so directly from search results without having to open the YouTube app at all. This is a great feature for those who love consuming video on the go and don’t like jumping to and fro between a couple of apps.

Lastly, Google has baked in performance improvements in this update as well, and has reduced crashed rate by as much as 50%. Given how stable the app already is, it’s great to know the Mountain View company is doing all it can in its power to iron things out.
