GOG Releases Star Trek: Starfleet Command Gold Edition

Posted 1 year ago

GOG is continuing their tradition of reviving and re-releasing great games from our past. Today GOG is announcing the availability of Star Trek: Starfleet Command Gold Edition, one of the finest real-time strategy games in the Star Trek universe.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command the Gold Edition is now available at GOG, giving you a good tactical view of the Star Trek universe once more.

Just like many great media ventures, not every game can be made of gold and diamonds. But Star Trek: Starfleet Command was perhaps one of the greatest entries into the universe. It nearly got everything right, and was very focused. Manage your ships systems and resources and engage in very challenging yet genuinely rewarding way.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command is played on a 2D plane where you control a ship and its crew as you play through missions in a universe that’s fairly random in its creation, using the Dynaverse generator, as they call it, to provide a unique story for every character you create.

Your story is just beginning, as a captain in the Star Trek universe you’ll get to choose your allegiance from the Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Gorn, Hydran, or Lyran fleets and board your unique ship. Your 30 year career awaits

It’s fantastic to see one of the best games in Star Trek make its way back to the PC again. Kudos to GOG for doing what they do. Star Trek: Starfleet Command is currently $5.99 at GOG, and is sitting in my own cart waiting to be purchased.

Gwent Hands-On Impressions: The Magic's In the Cards

GOG is helping to bring back the best games of our past and present and give them to us in a DRM free fashion, something that a lot of gamers certainly enjoy. While they have been pushing their own store quite heavily in The Witcher 3, it still remains a great choice for buying games. DRM free and reasonable prices are great. Hopefully their GOG Galaxy platform matures a bit and includes more functionality as a launcher.
