Rumors are coming in all directions and they have a lot of different things to say about the Galaxy S8. On one hand, Samsung was reported to be releasing only ‘curved edge screen’ variants of the smartphone, which analysts claimed would result in consumer backlash, and now whispers claim that the manufacturer will actually stick to releasing a flat screen model along with the curved-edge one.

Two Model Numbers of the Galaxy S8 Leaked – One Said to Be a Flat Screen Model While Other Is Said to Be a Curved-Edge Display Variant

One rumor coming out of China (via Sammobile) states there are going to be two models belonging to the Galaxy S8.

  • SM-G955: This is the model number for the curved screen version

The screen sizes of these models are unconfirmed because, on one hand, Samsung is prepping 5.7 and 6.2-inch models, while another report states that a 6-inch model is going to be announced. What we do know is that the announcement date is going to be held somewhere during the month of April, which pretty much means that the grand unveiling of the smartphone isn’t going to take place in February, and as disappointing as that may sound, Samsung definitely has its reasons for reportedly sticking to this decision. Since there are so many rumors that are suggesting different specifications for the Galaxy S8, so we’d advise you to take all of them with a grain of salt.

Personally, I think that releasing a flat screen version might be a safer bet because consumers will be able to grip the smartphone comfortably, which isn’t the case when it comes to the dual curved-screen version. The screen replacement process for the flat display model will also be less arduous and cheaper should you manage to break it, so there are a lot of factors to consider as to why consumers go for a flat screen variant in the first place.
