ok i am finally ditching worldcall and will be moving to dsl.
now the few questions i have are:
1.i will first need a phone line so should i choose copper or onu?
(i have asked faisal town exchange and they said its available)
2.ofcourse on onu its only ptcl so is it going to good?
or shoul i go for copper line and ldn?
3. i guess i should type this that straight line distance from exchange to my home is hardly a kilometer .

plus: i have 3 pc's at home one on 1st floor and 2 on ground floor and im gonna keep my modem upstair and will bring a wire down stairs and down stairs i will have a wireless router for my laptop and wired for my pc is it ok? and which company wirless (router+modem) should i pic. i have 1 max more day for decision.

Go for PTCL as its the best and get a onu line as there is a performance difference in onu and copper......by the way when did u move to Lhr...

PTCL DSL performance is pretty good on ONU. You don't need a router as the DSL Modem provided by PTCL (Shiro/ZTE) both are Modem+Router and are NAT (Network Access Translation) capable. You only need to buy a 4-5 port switch (TP-link from HC should not cost more than 750 Rs.) and distribute the DSL in your home PC(s) through it. Put one LAN cable with RJ45 Connectors on both ends from DSL Modem to Switch's first port and connect other PC on rest of the ports.

ok so was again away from home for two weeks back and today ptcl told me that only in my block in faisal town no onu just my block :@
kher now im on a copper line and the line man says that they dont have issues with dsl on their copper line. the ppl i know in my area dont have ptcl dsl.
so now what to get
ptcl or ldn?

you are still without internet nofel.......ur summer vacations would be over then u will get the internet connection.....try ptcl or ldn as for ptcl there is no security...if one of them does not work out then try the other one after a month

^ yes it seems i will get a connection by end of vacation which is still pretty far .(27 sep)

I'm pretty happy with LDN, been using them for a year, without any serious issues. Sometimes I think I'm the lucky one, but a lot of my friends are happy too. So I'd suggest trying them first. And then if things don't quite work out, move and try PTCL as well. But keep in mind PTCL customer service sucksors, and it sucksors big time.

PS. I'm on a 2 MB connection with LinkDotNet, and it's been working great 24/7. The last time I called their customer support was in February!

i have used LDN and bro trust me it was like pain in the a**...and to ur surprise they took almost 2 months to disconnect it when i was so pissed off by their services... dont ever go for LINK DOT NET....its beter u put a 56k modem and use dial up rather than opting for LDN ,, it least dialup wont fail u everytime u have to make an assignment or project work or even talk to ur GF... (this everythin has happened to me )


go for PTCL it surely is the best...

Posts like the one above me, make me feel I'm the lucky one. No issues with LDN so far, however it can go either way, really. PTCL may work great for some, while for other it's the opposite.
