PTCL proudly presents Free Internet facility for its landline valued customers.
All PTCL landline subscribers can now experience the best dial up speeds with unlimited internet usage during night hours from 10:00pm to 07:00am. Furthermore subscribers can also avail up to 100 hours of free dialup internet on monthly basis from 0:700 am to 10:00pm every day.
Key Highlights:

• Free Unlimited Dialup Internet for entire subscriber base of PTCL landline.
• Available on all billing categories.

Offer/ Package Details:

• Free unlimited dialup internet will be available from 10pm to 7am in the morning every day.
• For day time users (7am to 10pm) PTCL is offering up to 100 free hours on monthly basis to entire subscriber base.
• Customers exceeding 100 hours in a month (during day time from 7am to 10pm) will be charged as per existing tariff of Rs. 6/Hour.

Activation Procedure:

Pre activated on all PTCL numbers. Customers need to dial 131 77777 with username and password "ptcl".
Other information:

• Available all over Pakistan.
• Package will be applicable for all existing subscribers of phone n net unlimited package.
• All Value plus will be converted to basic plus and value plus will be eliminated w.e.f. November 01, 2008. Value Plus charges for October shall be Rs 40 (instead of Rs 75) to give benefit of free internet to PTCL valued customers.
• Maximum session log duration is 2hours which may be reduced after careful monitoring of system.

Aaaaahhhh those good old Dialup days. Still remember my first internet connection from Digicom and then PTCL with those good old Text based modes.

Wow. Nice...
But too bad... I don't think I'll be able to get used to Dial-up again! It's so slow.

And I also remember the days, when I was 11 and just started to use internet (though I knew how to use computer before), the internet was not cheap (specially the one with good speed). I used to Buy CyberNet's cards. They charged Rs. 20 per hour. And I used to use internet for at least 4 hours a day, back then...

neither do i.. LOL.. but i guess we can get one for about less than Rs. 500?? no idea what the price of a modem is these days

Well imo it's a good initiative ........ there are still a lot of ppl who use dial up .........

But i think what PTCL is actually trying to do is to kick out all the other ISPs in the dial up business ....... because i don't think any other isp will give ppl this kind of a free package ........

I still have Apache modem in my new PC, used that for telephony (CLI, Answering, Call Record) in Windows XP with Adance Call Center, but in Vista it doesn't work due to drivers issue. . At Galaxy its for Rs.1800

I've been using this service for quite some time now, as a backup whenever I loose my broadband access, surely it helps in those hard times. Speed is also satisfactory keeping in mind that it is dialup. Above all, its free, so feel free to abuse it in times of need
