Type 192.169.1.1 in your web browser. Type "admin" as user name & password. Hover your mouse cursor at WAN under Advanced. Select fourth option that should be your PTCL connection. It should be below connection scan option.
Take a snapshot of that page or remember the VCI and other options. Also you should know your connection password and user name supplied by PTCL. If you don't know the password than call and ask them. Now plug in your Aztech Modem. Clear browser cache so that Aztech configuration page will load instead of Shiro. Go under WAN>New connection (same page from where you copied the settings for Shiro modem). Plz note that Shiro and Aztech both have similar Chipset. So configuration options will be similar. Copy the VCI settings, User name & Password to the relevant fields. After you are done with that. Click on Submit and save settings. After that restart the modem. Enjoy PTCL on Aztech modem. ![]() Edit: Above method works 100%. I have tried it personally. |

![]() AFAIK PTCL has different VCI settings for their ONU (fiber optic) DSL connections. It's VPI is 8 and VCI is 81 Broadband Pakistan (DSL) |

If i'm not wrong... ONU = Optical Network Unit.
Basically the old network we had for PTCL was all copper. from exchanges to those cabinets to your home all copper wires New exchanges they are deploying now are fiber optic, from their end to ONU (that Box like thing deployed near by) to which all the copper wires lead to. Basically you do get a copper line, but its for only a short distance, rest of the distance is covered on fiber. again I can be wrong... ![]() |

from my experience and of few of my friends', ONU has about 10-15k download speed advantage over copper, but that mayb be different for every1 cz of their distances from their exchange, but that too may only be the case with copper lines.
