OMG! PTCL slashes bandwidth tariff

PTCL reduces IP bandwidth tariff

ISLAMABAD (July 07 2007): The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has further reduced its IP bandwidth tariffs that will directly benefit the Internet service providers (ISPs), data network operator and the Call centre industry.

A press release issued here on Friday said that step would facilitate and support the government's policy for the proliferation of information technology throughout the country. The rates for IP bandwidth have been slashed from the existing level of $1.600 per EI per month to $1,000 per El per month in Karachi (a reduction of .37%).

The new rate for cities and locations other than Karachi has been set at $1.200 per EI per month (a reduction of 25%). It added that along with the drop in IP bandwidth charges, the copper loop charge for DSL service providers has also been reduced from the current level of Rs 217 per month to Rs 150 per month (a reduction of 30%).

These new rates will help Sower the cost of ICT services and enable the provision of more affordable solutions for not only consumers but also stimulate the growth of industries such as Call centres and IT solution providers.

This initiative will also go a long way in realising the President and Prime Minister's vision of a connected Pakistan and in bolstering the Ministry of Information Technology's (MoTT) initiative for bringing the benefit of IT to the population at large.

Now if ISPs expects the cost to go as low as what PTCL's customer's offering, that ain't gonna happen.

attached rights to customer's and ISP's are different all togather.
