Exclamation CPU Fan error

Right after installing Everest Ultimate Edition in XP, I restarted my PC to boot into Vista, but my PC stucked up at POST with the following error:

CPU Fan error - Press F1 to continue

What does that mean? And why did that happen?

I restarted my PC so many times after that, but no problems.

Any ideas?

is the cpu fan working? if yes, then u can go into bios to turn of it's monitoring. if it isnt moving then see if the connector is plugged in properly. otherwise take it out and plug it in another port on the board (there is another pwr_fan connector on the mobo) and see if tha t works. that one is a 3 pin connector. the cpu fan connector will fit, but the 4th pin will be left unconnected.

The CPU fan is working fine. It's rotating and giving a reading as well.

alitayyab:

If that error appears once again, should I simply disable that setting from the BIOS?

I don't know! May be, the fan speed is set to "low" or "lowest" in the BIOS! That was exactly the case When I had an Intel board.
