only one thing, i didn't like your bar charts much, reason being the 3d type ones are a bit deceptive to look at, stick with 2d types, my two cents

other then that great review, thumbs up
oh and just a few points. next time if possible and reasonable try larger files for write and read speeds, such as a dvd iso. im sure u've got one lying around, and another thing, writing a thousand 1kb files / transferring from one partition to the other, just some suggestions, lemme know what you think

and the reason why i personally would not go for a single large storage drive is because they can go dead and that way you loose everything, having multiple drives just gives you that secure feeling that even if a drive were to go dead atleast you'd still have some data saved. all about probability my friend :P

Thanks bro will work on that ..

well yaar.. i gave a normal point of view.. the thing is .. having so many drives to form one cluster of drives can also result increased power consumption, heat dissipition and not to mention the noise. As for the data, well drives like these normally don't go down just like that.. secondly.. if you're data is so precious to you (like most of mine ) .. I am sure you're backing it up properly.. Backing up data is just as important as storing

Thyhammerr

nope bro i don't backup my data, since dvd's and cd's go bad after 2years of storage even if well kept, i've faced that so i stick with the hdd's as my first and last backup. well yes the heat and power factor are all there but then the choice is up to the user isn't it, if the user can afford then he can get two high capacity drives and raid them so one drives a copy of the other, maximum security . but since i don't have a high end gpu to hog my psu i guess i don't have to worry abt power problems, and since my hdd's stay at 39C when idle i don't have a problem there either. true hdd's just don't go out like that, but what can blow em is a power surge / power out and those happen a lot in this country, thats why i use a ups

well it's true that you can have two drives in price of this one and raid them and have good data security plan and stuff... but .. don't you think if a surge good enough to knock out 400G .. would forgive 2x 200GB ?? not to mention that raiding them would result in lower space??

what i think is that having 1 big HD has it's advantages over having several small ones..

To oblivion:
Thanks bro

Thyhammerr

This was a nice review but then again, all of your reviews are nice and to the point. I'll just add this to my next HDD purchase list...

All my Hard Drives are western digital ones... and so far i havent had a problem with them.. Seagate makes pretty solid hard drives, so basically there's nothing much in it as far as quality control is concerned..

And nice review Thyhammer

I've had 5 seagate drives till date and NONE of them have ever failed me ( except for one which died after falling out of a new khan bus :P )

lets see .....

1) 2GB PATA
2) 20 GB PATA (fell down new khan bus :P)
3) 80 GB PATA
4) 120 GB SATA
5) 40 GB Laptop drive

rest are all running fine till date including the 2 GB drive from my 200 MHz P1 !!!!
I have NEVER encountered any bad sectors or any failed drives.

Seagate rules !!!!

( but im sure doomer will disagree in favor of maxtor :P )
