not much of a difference. both are wholesale stores. something u can find cheaper at metro and others at makro. metro stocks more international brands than makro does and has a better supply of electronics. u need a card for metro and none for makro. and i beleive the 2000 Rs. minimum shopping limit at metro has been recently removed.

yeah hyperstar aint cheap, secondly things at hyperstar are not organized, they had hand washing soaps on first floor where as aerial, bright etc on ground floor and first one has to do the payment on the same floor before going on to the other floor. Also the clothes were not organized according to the size but were just stuffed onto the racks

We just stuffed our cart, went up stairs, bought some more stuff and then went back and made the payment at the cash counter. But agreed, Hyperstar is no way near as cheap. Their strategy is to put some things off real cheap (or give away a free gift with them), and then make the real money on other products. This is nothing new, when I was in Saudi Arabia, retail chains like Panda used to do the same. Buy one get one free on a couple of dozen items, and making passive income on other stuff. Hyperstar is a retail store, after all. It was also very crowded the few times we went there. Far too crowded for our taste.

Agreed.
However, since both brands are under the same umbrella, it all comes down to personal preference and the points sheharyar mentioned. All said and done both stores still don't have throwaway offers that are radically down the market price as in other countries. But then again, they are other countries - you can find a $100 DVD player for $50 on very special occasions. I guess the dynamics of Pakistan don't allow for such radical discounts, at least on electronics, computer stuff, etc.Still, I'm not complaining. LOL. Hyperstar, Makro or Metro - bring them on!

i did a research on both....as part of MBA ( Operations Management ).......resultantly METRO is way better than Makro......considering its layout and location analysis.....individuals are not the target market so it is vague to discuss prices here...first develop urself as a target market then compete on prices!
