WorldCall Karachi Forums Reach a NEW LOW STANDARD

WC Khi has indeed reached a new low standard.

Users are no longer allowed to advertise their website.

Users cannot post signatures.

The WorldCall users hub which allows users to share files amongst themselves is also under fire. Local speeds have been reduced so that users cannot share stuff among themselves.

Users are banned and their posts edited by forum admins without notice.

A petition started by WC users to increase local speeds was deleted by WC admins. This petition was signed by over 100 users. NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH ?

As for the freedom of speech issue, please understand that since its an official 'corporate' forum, the admins, who are people like us, have suits breathing down their neck regarding post content. Its not the admins fault. They simply do what they are told to do or forced to do, or else they lose their jobs. Complaints do arise, but there is nothing they can do. The only complaint against an admin thats worthwile, is when he is delibrately abusing his privileges. If you want free speech, you guys can create your own forum, or you can hang out here.

Now this is definitely lame, I wonder who dug up this ballyhooed rule.

A lot of us were mods/s-mods and pretty active users in the 'official' Lahore forum. There were always restrictions. Conflicts arose. We left, and created our own place to speak our minds. Seriously, life on the internet isnt so important. The purpose of such forums is to educate and create awareness. Bring people together, make new friends, or foes... :/

My own reason is a place where I can share my knowledge freely especially regarding gaming hardware, games etc. Each of us has our own reasons for coming here.

You Karachi guys can still consider yourself lucky. P2P has been officially blocked in Lahore since Day 1. The is ABSOLUTELY no mention ever of an FTP or inter-user connectivity among Lahore WC users. We get 100kbit connections for the price of 128kbit in Karachi. If you feel that services are poor, just complain to the PTA. At least its worth something.

just a thought: Qayammat, in reply to WC's move, if u dont pay next months bill (or for that moment cease paying them) would that help?...

for that matter, what about us lahore WC users? if those who dont like the service stop paying, and demand that their complaints be given heed, that might send a message.

and guess what
ITS A 3 MEGABIT connection
380kbps downloading speed from download.com and all broadband supporting sites
now this is good service
but it has its downsides as well
which are:
1. u cant download movies from kazaa and all even though they work, cuz ur network/bandwith is being monitored at all times and they can start a case against u if u get caught
2. kazaa though is unblocked but u gota be carefull in using this, as all p2ps are banned in usa,
i am not sure of the terms and policies of this cable provider so i am not sure wat all is actually banned and stuff

if the khi services are decreasing then do what we did, sit back and relax since these morons wont listen to a word u will say
if u got some good contacts/friends in the tech/vas department of wc khi then u should ask them
or do a get together of 25ppl or so and raid the wc office
but one thing that was suggested here and is a very good idea is to get the media involved
if any one of u ppl is linked with any media ppl like geo or any other channel then get them to do a show on go4b and its services, bad publicity is not liked by any one, so u could try this

Plus DSL aint so widely availabe.. until that happens and we get more companies offering DSL we are stuck with dial-up/WC suckass service
