Buying A Budget Laptop : HELP!

Hi all,
I want to buy a laptop in 40-45k range, however can extend it to 50k if the deal strikes me. I am going to buy it in 2-3 days....

I will use it for using softs like dreamweaver and photoshop, multitasking and browsing internet with firefox(10-15 tabs normally)

I will not use it for heavy games or stuff like video editing etc...

the battery time should be more than 4hrs and screen should be 15" or more

so what do u guys suggest?....

go to galaxy website and check Dell Inspiron and Studio laptops around 50k. These are nice machines with reasonable price

Low spec HP 540, also look for something from the Dell Inspiron range!
Don't go for Acer!

i checked there....but they only have limited quotes.....inspite of labelling them as 'wide range'....btw the dell studio is listed as 59k there....which is beyond my range

yeah...lots of people say no to acer.....however....i saw some laptops of acer in market.......they dont look as bad as they are propagated though.....

530 would be available on order only..

atleast buy the 540, as it has a bit better processor..


Compaq cq series would be a few thousands above your buget, but among all the chinese cheap paint overheating hp 5xx series, the compaqs are a league above in price..

on a similair buget range.
hp 6230 if available is a much better choice than any hp 5xxx...

1) Acer's build quality is rubbish
2) They have the lowest quality screens i have sen in laptops
3) User experience: batteries lose time quickly, accessories and parts not available in Pakistan so easily (may have changed)
4) Problems come quite often

I have seen loose clips and non-consistent lines in one or two acers but usually the plastic is cheap or looks cheap.

Quality of the display, inaccurate colours and a lot of greyish tone in all colours, you'll easily notice that, but the newer extrensa has much improved display.

My friend's acer battery died in 6 months and charger replaced thrice if i remember correctly in 2 years. Few other people complaining similar problems with battery and chargers as well.

4.what sort of problems??

Some people complaining that the hardware fails (not much details since this is not from any reliable source, and mostly related to acers that are more than 1.5 years old), but the recent acers i have used mostly have better hardware quality. Hardware problems were not from the sources i trust, but when so many people shout, it's for a reason, so I have my doubts. Believe in this point only if you want to, but i believe it.

So consider acer only if the budget is below 50000.

So actually there is nothing genuinely wrong, all these are obvious trade-offs that you usually find in cheap products, except the battery and charger problems. So this is the thing which makes acer bad.
